Built in 1949, the Roanoke Star sits atop Mill Mountain and is an iconic symbol or Roanoke. It is the largest freestanding, illuminated star in the world! It is lit each night with 2000 feet of neon tubing. It serves as a symbol of the progress and innovation of Roanoke, VA.
There is a family friendly hike to the top, or you can take the Blue Ridge Parkway up. There is a flower garden, zoo, and park along with the spectacular overlook at the top! It is truly a joy to work were I do. I absolutely love the neighborhood we are in and the surrounding community. Roanoke has so many family friendly attractions, businesses and healthcare providers. There’s really something for everyone here. We have all of the benefits of living in a big city but we still get to enjoy the small town, outdoorsy feel!
