Meet Dr. Lindsay A. Thorn, DMD
Foundation.
Dr. Lindsay Thorn is a Salem, Virginia native, Artist, Equestrian, and Family Dentist. She and her husband, Brad, share a family of pets together- 2 dogs, 1 cat, a horse, and a turtle! She has an undeniable love for animals and enjoys competing/riding horses. She loves all things outdoors and is passionate about seeking creative ways to support our environment. Caring for our community has driven her to become passionate about achieving overall health while improving the environment necessary to maintain wellness.
Dr. Thorn graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a minor in French. From there, she continued her studies at Vanderbilt University, where she focused her studies on SARS-Coronavirus. (Yes… COVID!) There, she earned her Master’s degree in Microbiology & Immunology. During her time at Vanderbilt, she taught MCAT classes part-time for The Princeton Review while also teaching ACT prep at several underserved high schools in the city. Her combined passions for art, wellness, science, education, and her community influenced her decision to join the profession of dentistry.

Focus.
Dr. Thorn attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, where she graduated 8th in her class and earned several outstanding graduating senior awards. She was nominated to the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry in 2019. She sought mentorship from several pioneers in the field of dentistry whom she regularly seeks input and inspiration from today. Her goal is to learn from the greatest in the field of Dentistry and find ways to implement that knowledge in her own, creative way. Her commitment to the wellness of others is supported by her focus on consistently obtaining the most up to date skills and techniques.
Dr. Thorn is passionate about promoting a wellness lifestyle, prioritizing environmental stewardship, and strictly abiding to ethical principles of practice. She is striving to achieve Gold certification with the Eco Dentistry Association, which rates practices in areas of clinical practice, office administration, and construction. She invests hundreds of hours into continuing education in areas of wellness, sleep and airway, TMJ disorders, and occlusion. She is also pursuing her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Piedmont Dental Association, and the treasurer for the Roanoke Valley Dental Society. She pursues education through pioneering training programs including The Dawson Academy, The Pankey Institute, and The Hornbrook Academy. She also partners with top dental labs around the country and in the Roanoke Valley.
